SAT SCORE MEANING
The average SAT score in 2017 was 1,060. The average score for the Reading and Writing Section was 533. The average for the Math Section was 527. A score of above 1,060 will put you ahead of most students but a score just above average might not be sufficient for good Universities and colleges.
There is no set standard for a good SAT score but since you will be competing with other students for admission, your Percentile Rank will be of even greater importance than your absolute score. A Percentile Rank tells how many percent of students you were better than or equal to. A 90th Percentile Rank means you were better than or equal to 90 percent of test takers.
Let us take at a look at the corresponding Percentile Rank for SAT score based on 2017 results.
